Yesterday the Hurricanes placed struggling goaltender Antti Raanta on waivers.
This exposed him to every other team in the NHL and we now have confirmation that not one team decided to jump on the opportunity of adding him to their roster at no cost.
In 14 appearances this season, Raanta posted a 3.61 goals against average and a .854 save percentage, leading to his placement on waivers. The Hurricanes have opted to call up rookie goaltender Yaniv Perets from the AHL's Norfolk Admirals, hoping for a fresh perspective and improved performance.
The future for Raanta remains uncertain. While the Hurricanes can choose to retain him on the main roster, they also have the option to send him down to the AHL now that he has cleared waivers.
