The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Aaron Dell to a free-agent tryout contract according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.
Dell, 34, became an unrestricted free agent in July after a stint with the San Jose Sharks last season. His performance included a 0-3-0 record in four games with a .913 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average. In 38 AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda, Dell posted a 15-17-4 record with a .898 save percentage and a 3.14 GAA.
It remains to be seen if Dell's tryout will result in a more permanent arrangement because the last one with Halak didn't end up working out.
The undrafted goaltender started his career with the Sharks and also had stints with the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres before returning to San Jose last season.
