This could be a sign that Yamamoto may start the season in the AHL. He will have to clear waivers though so perhaps he could get another look somewhere else. Regardless, It has not been easy for Yamamoto to live up to the hype after being drafted 22nd overall in 2017.
It has been a rough go of it for the former first rounder as he was traded to Detroit last season where he was subsequently bought out. Seattle offered him a single year contract with a value of 1.5 million dollars in the offseason. A one-of prove it kind of deal.
To this point, Yamamoto has played 244 games, scored 50 goals, and notched 68 assists for 118 points in his NHL career.
