The Los Angeles Kings have placed one of their young players on waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

With all eyes on Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals tonight, other news, like this one, might have gone unnoticed.

The Kings announced that they have placed Kim Nousiainen on unconditional waivers, intending to terminate his contract.

"The #Kings 🇺🇸 have placed defenseman Kim Nousianinen (@kimnous) 🇫🇮 on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a mutual contract termination.

Nousianinen, 23, had zero goals, nine points through 52 games played with the Ontario Reign (AHL) 🇺🇸 this season.

He was drafted 119th overall by Los Angeles in 2019."

Nousiainen spent three seasons in the SM-liiga and three more in the AHL with the Ontario Reign. In the 2023-24 season, he played 52 games and recorded nine assists. He also had two assists in eight playoff games.

Nousiainen's fate will be known in 24 hours, but it's expected that he'll clear waivers and his contract will be terminated.
