The Czech hockey legend, Tomas Plekanec, with 1000 NHL games to his name, announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 40.
Throughout his NHL career, Plekanec took part in 1001 games. A significant 984 of these were with the Montreal Canadiens, while he played the remaining 17 with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He scored 233 goals and 375 assists, totaling 608 points. He had his best year was during the 2009-10 season with the Canadiens, registering 25 goals and 45 assists, summing up to a personal best of 70 points.
After his NHL stint, he teamed up with the legendary Jaromir Jagr in 2018-19, playing for Jagr's HC Kladno.
As Kladno's top scorer in recent years, Plekanec had been in exceptional form until his decision to retire. In the current season, he recorded a goal and three assists across 9 games, accumulating 4 points. Since 2020, he was Kladno's captain.
