After a busy offseason, the Penguins are looking stronger on paper. The additions of Kevin Hayes, Cody Glass, Blake Lizotte, and Anthony Beauvillier have bolstered their middle six. This depth now makes some veterans, particularly Lars Eller, potentially expendable.
Pittsburgh Penguins reporter Dan Kingerski recently noted that Eller and Noel Acciari might be on their way to new teams soon.
Lars Eller is highly respected in the NHL as a reliable third or fourth-line player who consistently shuts down top opponents.
Originally from Denmark, Eller was drafted 13th overall in the 2007 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues, where he played his first seven NHL games. He was then traded to Montreal, where he spent six years establishing himself as a consistent player for the Canadiens. In 2016, he moved to Washington, where he achieved the highlight of his career by winning a Stanley Cup in 2018. After seven years with the Capitals, Eller played 24 games for Colorado before signing with the Penguins in the 2023 offseason.
We'll be watching closely to see if and when Eller is traded and what the next chapter of his career will bring.
