With the arrival of General Manager Brad Treliving, the Maple Leafs were looking to make a huge splash this summer, but unfortunately, for whatever reason, that never came to fruition.
Unfortunately, Elliotte Friedman has now revealed that the team were chasing veteran Matt Dumba, and after he chose Arizona, they landed former Ducks and Stars blue liner John Klingberg.
Now, Klingberg could reportedly be the team's 7th defenseman when they battle the Calgary Flames at home on Friday, signaling that the team are just as disappointed in his play as their fans are.
Ultimately, there's still time for them to get rolling this season, with several names out there as potential upgrades from Klingberg, but it must be tough knowing that Dumba, who has been fantastic for Arizona this season was a major target, only for them to whiff on landing him.
