The Toronto Maple Leafs will need to wait a bit longer for the return of goaltender Joseph Woll. Head coach Craig Berube confirmed that Dennis Hildeby will start in goal for the Leafs against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, marking his second start of the season.
Hildeby's previous start was on October 10, when he stopped 21 of 23 shots, helping the Leafs defeat the New Jersey Devils. Berube added that although Woll is close to being ready, he is not yet fit to return to the lineup. Anthony Stolarz, who played in Monday's victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, will serve as the backup for the upcoming game.
In another lineup change, Ryan Reaves will return to action, replacing David Kämpf, who has been scratched for this game. Kampf who played 12:28 in Monday's game & ended with a minus-one rating has one assist in six games this season. Reaves on the other hand last played on October 19th where he had 8:36 of ice time.
This will be an opportunity for Hildeby to showcase his abilities as the Leafs wait for Woll's recovery. Meanwhile Reaves' return to the lineup adds some physicality & energy to the team as the Maple Leafs aim to continue their winning momentum.
Stay tuned for more.
