The Jets announced a couple of days ago that they had acquired Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens. The team gave up a 1st round pick in 2024 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2027 for the veteran centerman.
However, as the Jets did not give up any roster players in the trade, the team was forced to make a corresponding move from within. Today, that move was made obvious.
The team announced today that 25-year-old forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby had been placed on waivers for the purpose of sending him to the AHL. The move was necessary in order to open up a roster spot for Sean Monahan.
Jonsson-Fjallby has 2 goals and 5 points in 26 games with the Jets this season. He has 10 goals and 23 points in 99 career NHL games.
As seen on Jets place a player on waivers to make room for Monahan
