The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season and they have already started to add players via trade for their playoff push. As a result though, one young player has lost his opportunity to play in the NHL.

Winnipeg Jets Acquire Canadiens Center Sean Monahan Via Trade

The Jets announced a couple of days ago that they had acquired Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens. The team gave up a 1st round pick in 2024 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2027 for the veteran centerman.

However, as the Jets did not give up any roster players in the trade, the team was forced to make a corresponding move from within. Today, that move was made obvious.

Jets Put Jonsson-Fjallby On Waivers Following Monahan Trade

The team announced today that 25-year-old forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby had been placed on waivers for the purpose of sending him to the AHL. The move was necessary in order to open up a roster spot for Sean Monahan.
