The Winnipeg Jets underwent significant changes this summer, notably trading Pierre-Luc Dubois for Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, and Rasmus Kupari. Amidst signs of struggle, they bolstered fan hopes by locking in star players Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck with seven-year extensions. However, despite these maneuvers, the team hasn't shown marked improvement and attendance at games has declined drastically.

The #Jets had just 11,226 fans in attendance against Los Angeles tonight, the least amount of fans since relocating to Manitoba from Atlanta in 2011 (not including during COVID-19).

The Numbers Don't Lie

Recently, the Jets hosted the Los Angeles Kings and recorded their lowest attendance since their 2011 relocation from Atlanta to Winnipeg, drawing only 11,226 fans. The slump in attendance has ignited concerns about the team's future, particularly as issues in the locker room have plagued the Jets over the years. Even though the atmosphere within the team seems to have improved this year, the damage to the fanbase might be irreversible.

nothing could be more Winnipeg Jets than imploding against the team you sent your disgruntled star to, all while seating the lowest non-COVID restricted attendance in franchise history. vibes 3 games into the season have tankeddddd. #NHLJets

The attendance issues are going to carry on in Winnipeg for at least half a season even if the Jets are really good and very entertaining. I don't question Winnipeg still cares, but TNSE pissed away a LOT of good will with the fans and now it will take time to win them back.

Relocation Immanent?

With the NHL currently considering options for the future of the Arizona Coyotes, it's raising questions about whether the Jets' situation also warrants league attention. A mere 12 years after relocating to Winnipeg, the diminishing attendance numbers could potentially put the franchise's future in jeopardy. Are we witnessing the beginning of the end for the Winnipeg Jets? This downturn in fan engagement is causing alarm and could prompt the NHL to reassess the viability of the team in its current location.

Is it time for the Jets to consider relocation? 11,226 fans in attendance for their last game, worst in their history since moving to Winnipeg in 2011. It might be an overreaction, but if we're talking about relocation, the Jets should be apart of that conversation #GoJetsGo
