Insider Chris Johnston has just reported that 3 veteran defensemen have just been placed on waivers including a former first round pick.
Realistically, it seems unlikely that any of these three defensemen will attract claims by noon tomorrow.
The more noteworthy name is former first round pick Lucas Johansen. The 26-year-old Vancouver, BC native has only notched one point in six games for the Capitals this season. There's lots of talk that Johansen's waiving is potentially seen as a precursor to Bear's arrival in D.C who has yet to sign as an unrestricted free agent.
TSN insider Darren Dreger strongly hinted over the past weekend that Bear has agreed to terms with the Capitals, with an official signing expected once the team finalizes its roster. Elliotte Friedman has also confirmed this on his 32 thoughts podcast.
Bear who has moved around quite frequently in the past from team to team is expected to be a good fit with the Capitals. He had a solid campaign with the Vancouver Canucks last season.
