On Tuesday, November 14, the Swift Current Broncos announced that head coach Devan Praught has been suspended indefinitely for allegedly breaking the Western Hockey League's code of conduct, Chad Leslie is the general manager of the organization, announced.
The alleged incident with a player on the ice on Monday during practice was the subject of the violation. Praught reportedly got into a physical argument with Josh Fluker, a 17-year-old defenceman. Praught is seen on video swinging his stick at Fluker during the altercation. The WHL Security Network is currently reviewing the incident.
Devan Praught was named the team's head coach in 2022 after acting as the team's interim coach following the departure of the previous coach and general manager Dean Brockman in October 2021.
During Praught's suspension, Taras McEwen, the assistant coach for the Broncos, will assume the position of interim head coach.
The fact that this is the second time this season that a coach has been punished for breaking the Code of Conduct shows how committed the WHL is to maintaining high standards.
Regarding the inquiry, the WHL and Swift Current Broncos will not be making any more statements.
