Joel Quenneville is one of the most famous coaches in the history of the NHL with the second highest number of wins and has been on the sidelines since the 2021-22 season due to his involvement in the 2010 Blackhawks cover up of a sexual assault.
Some fans were wondering if he could potentially take over the head coaching role of the St Louis Blues. Andy Strickland has provided us with some news regarding his status.
It seems he has not been cleared to return to the NHL as of now. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman confirmed that Quenneville would need to reapply before taking on a new coaching role.
Quenneville is best known for his time with the Blackhawks from the 2008-09 season through part of 2018-19. He had a 452-249-96 record with the team as well as three Stanley Cup Championships with the team. He is generally considered to be one of, if not the greatest coach in Blackhawks history, although his role in the 2010 coverup has greatly damaged his reputation.
