The NHL waiver wire has been active recently with teams finalizing their rosters for the regular season. While fewer moves were made on Tuesday there were still some notable surprises.
Over the past few days, around 60 players were placed on waivers, with just five being claimed. One of the more interesting names on Tuesday was veteran goalie Chris Driedger, who was waived by the Florida Panthers.
With Anthony Stolarz leaving in the offseason, the Panthers are relying on Spencer Knight as their backup, but they hope Driedger will clear waivers and head to the AHL as a solid depth option. Last season, Driedger played with Seattle's AHL team, posting a strong .917 save percentage and a 2.26 GAA over 39 games.
Another interesting move was the Vegas Golden Knights waiving Raphael Lavoie, who they had just claimed from the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. Many expect Lavoie to return to the Oilers, as they aim for a deep playoff run this season. The Oilers have made some surprising and confusing roster decisions in recent days.
Aside from these two, there were a few other players placed on waivers, but it's likely they will clear as most teams have already finalized their lineups. With the regular season starting this week, the excitement is just beginning.
