The Penguins have pulled the trigger on the first trade of 2024 with the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks have added some extra depth up front, acquiring winger Rem Pitlick from Pittsburgh. The 26-year-old impressed as a waiver claim by the Canadiens in 2021, picking up 26 points in 46 games.
After signing a two-year deal with Montreal, Pitlick faced challenges, spending time in AHL and Montreal with modest point production. A trade to Pittsburgh didn't work out, leading to waivers and AHL play.
Now, with injuries in Chicago, Pitlick may get his NHL shot. A strong performance could boost his free agency prospects, similar to two years ago.
