According to insider Elliotte Friedman, there is a strong indication that the Sharks organization want to trade Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who has frequently found himself as a healthy scratch. With two more seasons left on his contract and an average annual value of $7 million, moving Vlasic could become challenging.
It appears the only feasible scenario for the Sharks to part ways with Vlasic, who has a three-team trade list, is if they agree to retain half of his cap hit. However, even with that, they will need to sweeten the deal by adding a draft pick or prospect.
Given Vlasic's age who is turning 37 in March, he's obviously not the same player who won gold with team Canada in 2014 and the World Cup in 2016. With that said, the likelihood of attracting substantial interest in the trade market is low although he could help a contending team with his veteran leadership on the 3rd pair.
