Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney confirms that the team is working on contract extensions for captain Brad Marchand, Morgan Geekie and Trent Frederic now that Jeremy Swayman has signed his new deal.

All three players have been important to the team as they prepare for the new season & signing them would bring some stability going forward.

Marchand who is now settling into his role as team captain has set a high standard for his teammates as the season approaches. Many expect him to finish his career with the Bruins with rumors suggesting he could sign a three year deal though the exact cap hit is still unknown.

Morgan Geekie is a forward drafted in the third round (67th overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2017 & has played for three NHL teams inlcuding the Hurricanes, Seattle Kraken & now the Bruins. Last season he appeared in 76 games and scored 17 goals, 22 assists & 39 points along with 28 penalty minutes.

Trent Frederic was drafted by the Bruins in the first round (29th overall) in 2016 & brings a heavier more physical game. Standing at 6'3" and 220 lbs, he provides secondary scoring for the team. Last season, he played all 82 games, scoring 18 goals, 22 assists, and totaling 40 points, along with 69 penalty minutes.

These players, especially Marchand, are crucial to the Bruins as the team undergoes changes, with its core aging and management looking to build for the future. It's likely all three will sign extensions before the season ends.
