Joe Pavelski, one of the greatest NHL players to never win a Stanley Cup, has announced his retirement after 18 incredible years. Known for his leadership and skill, Pavelski played a significant role with both the San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars.
He was a remarkable player on the ice and an even better mentor off it, guiding young players like Wyatt Johnston and Logan Stankoven to become quality NHLers. Pavelski led both the Sharks and Stars to Stanley Cup Finals, and came just two wins short of another final before deciding to hang up his skates.
Joe Pavelski said, «This is it for me.» While not officially retired yet, he confirmed that the plan is not to play next season. His 18-year NHL career will end in Dallas.
Expect Pavelski to eventually join the Dallas Stars front office and to have his jersey retired in San Jose. The NHL won't be the same without him.
