Travis Howe, grandson of Gordie, has been grinding in the minor leagues for years due to his love for the game. One thing he apparently loves just as much as playing hockey is punching people in the face as his career penalty minutes across all pro leagues is a four digit number. He has most recently been playing in the AHL, the highest level of hockey he's ever played, where he's continued his trend of rearranging people's faces. In his last three games he has three fights, including this one against Keaton Middleton, a longtime AHL veteran.
How already has 26 penalty minutes this season in nine games in the AHL. Last season he had 77 penalty minutes in just 24 games. His single season record in a professional league came in 2016-17 when he amassed 234 penalty minutes in just 50 games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. As you can tell, this is a player that is not shy about dropping the gloves.
The 29-year-old has spent most of his career in the ECHL, where he has put up video game numbers in the penalty minutes category. It seems unlikely that he will ever get a call up to the NHL, but his recent stint in the AHL is a sign of good things to come for the veteran enforcer.
